Me last year with my BUPA Great North Run Medal

I'm off again, taking part in the first ever Isle of Axholme Half Marathon on Sunday 3rd October 2010. The event starts just a few miles away in the historic market town of Epworth, the home of the Wesleys, and winds its way through local villages and   then back to the finish line in the market place. I'm hoping to improve my time of 2 hours 54 min that I did last year in the Great North Run but just getting over the finishing line will be fine by me ! Up to my 10 mile long run this weekend so hoping for good weather.

Just wanted to let you know my reason for running the Isle of Axholme Marathon and why Beating Bowel Cancer is charity close to my heart. I have lost three very close members of my family to bowel cancer, in 1972 my mum died of the disease, she was 44, eight years later her sister at 57 died of bowel cancer and in 2004 my cousin at only 43 was diagnosed with the same type of cancer and sadly died later that year and earlier this year my daughter lost her father-in-law to bowel cancer. Everyone needs their family and to have them taken form you before their time is devasting, my mum died over 35 years ago but I miss her as much today as I did back in 1972. Raising funds for Beating Bowel Cancer may help someone not have to go through what our family has. I am also running in memory of my mum who I know in my heart will be with me every step of the way.

I know all of our businesses are going through financially testing times with the recession but any sponsorship however big or small will be gratefully received.

You can donate online at www.justgiving.com/christine-hurst   or if you prefer you can send any sponsorship to me at:

Many thanks for your support.

Very best regards

Christine
